"Arrangee Marriage Wahala": Saudi groom divorces bride at the wedding when he sees her face for first time

A Saudi Arabian groom has divorced his bride right at the wedding as she lifted her veil and showed him her face for the first time.

The couple, who had not met before the arranged marriage, were about to pose for pictures after walking down the aisle. The groom got horrified by her face, jumped to his feet and said: “You are not the girl I imagined. I’m sorry – but I divorce you.”

According to local reports, the bride collapsed immediately and became hysterical as confused and panicking wedding guests stepped in to try to resolve it, in Medinah, Saudi Arabia, but nothing could change the groom's heart to reconsider. (Read more after the cut)....
In a report initially released on Okaz, both Saudi man and woman agreed to marry each other, despite that they never met face-to-face before. This is said to be a popular tradition in some Middle East countries, in which a man and woman agree to marry before ever being formally introduced.

What must have horrified this young groom? Was it the bride's set of teeth? Well, when it was time for the bride to lift up her veil, it wasn’t for a kiss; the photographer requested that she reveal her face. He wanted to snap a picture of the happy bride and groom after they exchanged their vows. As the bride began to smile for the picture, the groom protested in disgust and divorced her there and then causing her so much pain.

Trust the saying that no sin goes unpunished? Hmmmmm.... However, the Saudi husband’s reaction by demanding a divorce from his new wife has attracted serious backlash from social media users. User Afra’s comment is most noted in reports on this story. Afra is furious with the Saudi groom for what he did to his bride at their wedding.

Another friend posted: “He caused her great pain through his irresponsible attitude, and he deserves to suffer. He should appreciate that beauty is in the character, not the face. Unfortunately many young people today are interested only in looks and ignore values and morals. May God give her a better husband who will appreciate her for who and what she is.”

Abu Nass added: 'He is not man enough to assume his responsibilities. He is totally, completely insensitive. Nobody has forced him to marry her. He should have insisted on seeing her before the wedding and the engagement, and not wait until the wedding night. May he always be a loser and may he be deprived of getting married at all. He is not a man and he lacks basic feeling."
