The Residence, a private three-room cabin boasts a living room, bedroom, ensuite shower room, a Savoy-trained butler, private first-class compartments with a reclining lounge seat and full-length bed, chilled mini-bar, personal vanity and wardrobe.. A Miami-based businessman and aviation enthusiast Gino Bertuccio today became the first person to fly in a private three-room cabin of "The Residence."

We got stuck in an unusual traffic jam and my friend who was driving, took the opportunity to reply his pings, pausing only to turn up the radio when Wizkid’s “In My Bed” came on. A few seconds later, he increased the volume even more. I accepted that since I was in his car, I had to endure his choice of songs. So I listened, trying to figure out why he was interested in that particular song. 

13-year-old Kano suicide bomber says father donated her to Boko Haram

A 13-year-old suicide bomber who was arrested by the Kano state Police command yesterday Dec. 24th has confessed that it was her father that donated her to the deadly Boko Haram sect. The girl identified as Zahra'u Babban Gida was found with explosives strapped on her body opposite the Kantin-Kwari textile market, same place where two female suicide bombers detonated bombs two weeks ago killing many.

According to her, the unknown men told her to carry out the suicide attack in order to make heaven or they would kill her if she doesn't follow through with the bomb attack. 

“I was in the bush when the people some who looks like Arabs and some huge black men told me that did I know what is suicide mission, that is one killing himself? I said no I don’t know, they explained it to me and said that if I did plus reciting Sura Albakara I will straight go to Paradise.  I declined and told them I will not do it, they now told me that they would dig a hole and bury me alive because that is what they do to all women who refuse to adhere to their demands, and they said they meant what they said, I now complied,” Zahharau narrated.

Father of Jordanian pilot captured in Syria pleads with ISIS to show mercy and release his son

The father of a Jordanian pilot, First Lieutenant Mu'ath Safi Yousef al-Kaseasbeh captured by Isis has issued a heartfelt plea to the militants to release him. (pictured above)

 

Mr. Joseph Kasasbeh, a retired education director, told Saraya News that he hoped Isis would be compassionate. He said: 'I hope god will put mercy in their hearts and they will release my son.'

However, here's a quick recap on his capture. 27 year old Jordanian pilot-First Lieutenant Mu'ath Safi Yousef al-Kaseasbeh was captured by ISIS militants after his warplane was shot down while he was conducting airstrikes over Syria. ISIS shared photos of his capture on Twitter.

A suicide bomber who rammed into a military check point in Bajoga, Gombe State yesterday, failed to achieve his mission. His attempt to escape also failed as he was brought down by vigilant soldiers when he tried to flee after hitting a military Amoured Personnel Carrier with his IED laden Honda car. The explosives which failed to detonate have been evacuated and handed to the police.

President Jonathan To Buy New Executive Jet

President Goodluck Jonathan wants to ride yet another new aircraft, and he has asked the National Assembly to approve the purchase. The request is part of the 2015 budget presented to the National Assembly in Abuja last week by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. It will be the fourth such purchase since he took office in 2010.

To make the acquisition of the gleaming new toy fit for the electoral stomp an attractive proposition, the presidency will trade in one of the planes currently in the presidential fleet. But the purchase will still gulp N400 million as deposit to the manufacturer.

So Sad! Baby falls off mom's back on Okada, crushed by truck

A four month old baby was crushed yesterday, Dec. 23 by a heavy truck conveying crates of soft drinks at Okorodafe Round about in Ughelli-Delta State.  The little girl fell off her mother's back who was travelling on a commercial motorcycle popularly known as "okada."

According to eye witnesses account, the mother of the baby who was simply identified as Ese was said to have been struggling to adjust the wrapper with which she sstrapped the baby to her back while on a moving Okada. The men of the Federal Road Safety Commission has since cleared the remains of the dead baby from the road.

Moses Otolorin dies at 67

 

The Former IICC Shooting Stars defender Moses Otolorin is dead. He reportedly died of renal failure in his home town Ilorin Kwara state on Monday, December 22nd. Mr. Moses was aged 67.

The former footballer was a member of the team which lost in the final of the 1984 African Champions Cup. He is survived by wife and children. RIP.

Lagos state government reportedly deports over 70 beggars to Northern Nigeria

 

The Lagos state government has reportedly sent over 70 beggars back to Kano state after they were found loitering the streets of Lagos. According to a local Hausa radio program monitored by Sahara Reporters in Kano state, the beggars most of whom are indigenes of Niger, Kaduna, Kebbi, Jigawa Zamfara and Sokoto states, said they were bundled from their begging points, held for several months before they were deported to Kano recently.

North Korea's internet is offline

Following the Sony hack saga, between North Korea, Sony Pictures and the US government the North Korea internet is currently down. Guess US has shown whose the boss here.

What caused North Korea to hack into Sony pictures and boldly addmitted to doing so? Well, Sony Pictures released a movie called The Interview, a fictional comedy which showed the assassination of North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un. North Korean didn't find it funny and hacked into Sony's computers, rendering thousands of computers inoperable and forced Sony to take its entire computer network offline. 

They also threatened terror attack on US citizens if Sony doesn't cancel showing the movie, forcing Sony to pull the interview from theaters and losing almost $200m. However, the US government got involved and told Sony to go ahead and release the movie, that they don't take lightly to threats and promised to retaliate for the attack on Sony. 

Pope blasts the Vatican: Says top cardinals and priests suffer from spiritual Alzheimer's instead of being men of God'

Pope Francis yesterday, Dec 22 roasted the Vatican bureaucracy that serves him while delivering a Christmas message to cardinals, bishops and priests who run the Holy See. He described how some of those under him lust for power at all costs and lead hypocritical double-lives while others suffer from 'spiritual Alzheimer's' and forget they're supposed to be joyful men of God.

The Pope outlined these while offering a sobering catalog of the 15 sins of the Curia while delivering the non-traditional Christmas speech of all time. Pope Francis read out 15 sins that he believed the Curia was guilty of complete with footnotes and Biblical references. See the list of sins below...

1) Feeling immortal, immune or indispensable. 'A Curia that doesn't criticize itself, that doesn't update itself, that doesn't seek to improve itself is a sick body.'

2) Working too hard. 'Rest for those who have done their work is necessary, good and should be taken seriously.'

3) Becoming spiritually and mentally hardened. 'It's dangerous to lose that human sensibility that lets you cry with those who are crying, and celebrate those who are joyful.'

The doctors and nurses of the Fengcheng Hospital in Xi'an-China have ignited quite the public uproar after the celebratory set of selfies they snapped on and before a successful operation were posted online on Sunday, Dec. 21.

Following the backlash of criticism that swept across the web, the director and deputy director of the hospital, who was responsible for supervising the medical staff, has since been sacked and heavily fined, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the Xi'an Bureau of Public Health. Additionally, all members of staff that appeared in the photographs have also been fined which is reported to be equaling three months salary.

Free ride on BRT, BFS on Christmas, New Year days

 

La­gos State Government has declared free ride on BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) and BFS (Bus Fran­chise Scheme) during Christmas and New year days for all Lagosians.

The buses will provide a free fare ride on December 25, 2014 and January 1, 2015 re­spectively to ease movement around the city of Lagos between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Ac­cording to the Manag­ing Director of the La­gos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, this would en­able Lagosians move around the city unhin­dered. An ap­pealed to those who would put their vehicles on the road to drive with care and observe all traffic rules.

The free bus service, which began in 2008, had assisted in reduc­ing congestion and acci­dents on the roads dur­ing festive periods

Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye of a Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja, has convicted and sentenced the trio of James Ettete; Ekene Jude and Abidemi Adesanya to two and half years imprisonment each, for stealing the sum of N480,000 (Four Hundred and Eighty Thousand Naira only) belonging to Skye Bank Plc.

23 die in Cross River auto crash

 

23 persons has lost their lives in a tragic auto crash which occured in Akamkpa Lo­cal Government Area of Cross River State, yesterday, Dec 21st.

According to an eye witness account, the accident which involved a gold Picnic car and a 14-seater Hiace bus along Calabar-Awi-Akamkpa Expressway of the state collided with each other. Seven persons died on the spot  while other 17 passengers died later.

The Hiace bus was said to be coming from Ikom with about 18 passengers while the Picnic mini bus was carrying six passen­gers from Calabar going for a burial of one of their friends in the northern part of the state.

 

 

 

I’m Safe with Allah, Emir Sanusi Replies Boko Haram

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II, has dismissed threats to his life by the deadly Islamist sect, Boko Haram, anchoring his confidence on a divine protection from any evil.

The monarch, who presided over a special prayer session at the Kano City Central Mosque on Friday Dec, 19th, said he remained protected against any evil attack and that nothing, except if it was willed by Allah, would happen to him.

“I am protected and nothing is going to happen to me,” Emir Sanusi said.

“I am appealling to people to be vigilante and protect their mosques, churches, markets and hospitals against any attack and people to report to security operatives any suspicious action and be courageous enough to apprehend anybody with suspicious character or moves,” he had appealed.
