Spain's Duchess of Alba, known as 'Cayetana' is dead, aged 88.
Duchess who was one of Europe's wealthiest aristocrats, had a £2.2billion fortune died today, Thursday after a short illness.
88-year-old 'Cayetana' was rushed to hospital on Sunday after developing pneumonia. Duchess full name is Maria del Rosario Cayetana Alfonsa Victoria Eugenia Francisca Fitz-James Stuart y Silva.
A statement released before her death by The Olive Press, a spokesperson for the duchess' charitable foundation said: 'She had suffered a stomach virus a few days earlier but had recovered from it. Now she has pneumonia. At her age, one thing leads to another. 'She is weak. We are worried because we love her very much.'(keep reading after the cut)...
Cayetana was twice widowed but married a civil servat 25 years younger than her at 85. Forbes recently estimated her wealth to be in the region of 2.8 billion euro (£2.2billion). And she's the owner of fabulous palaces and priceless works of art.
According to Guinness Book of Records, 'Cayetana', was known for her flamboyant lifestyle and was the world's most titled person. She was 14 times a Spanish grandee, five times a duchess, once a countess-duchess, 18 times a marchioness, 18 times a countess and once a viscountess. Rest in Peace Spain's Duchess of Alba.
