Mother of the week old baby boy thrown into 9ft deep drain charged with attempted murder and allowed to name him

30-year-old woman who left her a week old baby boy in a 9ft drain at Sydney in Quakers Hill has been arrested charged with attempted murder at Black Local Court yesterday, Monday Nov. 24. (Read here)It has also been revealed she's the daughter of a Seventh Day Adventist Church Minister.

According to court's document, she fully admitted to putting the baby down the drain knowing it may kill the baby on Tuesday (Nov. 18) - less than 24 hours after he was born at Blacktown Hospital, wrapped in a striped hospital blanket with the peg still attached to his cut umbilical cord.

Neighbours has described the family as deeply religious and family-oriented. But claims the baby's mother concealed her pregnancy from family and the baby's father, is yet to be identified.

A family member told Daily Mail Australia they were rallying together to support each other through this tough time.
'We're a strong family. We're just taking it a day at a time,' they said.
A Westmead Children's Hospital spokeswoman said the boy is in a stable condition. While the woman will receive a medical assessment while behind bars, the court heard. Her case will be heard further at Penrith Court on Friday.

Many members of her family were present at the court proceedings but they refused to comment outside of court. The woman lives with her aunty, uncle and cousins in Sydney's west, court documents said, while her immediate family - her parents and siblings - live in Samoa.

The identity of the child's father is unknown. Inspector David Lagats told Daily Mail Australia on Sunday night the 30-year-old mother was of Pacific Islander background.
It was reported that the baby was of Middle Eastern or Indian descent and police were looking for an Indian man in an orange shirt leaving the scene around the same time the baby was found crying in the drain.
Police were yet to locate the father of the child and have confirmed the mother is not married through door knocking and checking medical records.

The mother has reportedly named her child after he was found in the drain, name which is said to be a "biblical name" and cannot be revealed for security reasons.
