The Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius who shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp has been sentenced to five years in jail, today by Judge Thokozile Masipa.
Oscar-27 admitted killing the model and TV presenter at his Pretoria home in the early hours of Valentine's Day last year, which he descried as a tragic accident when he mistook Reeva for an intruder and opened fire on his bathroom door.
Following a two-month trial, Pistorius, who was arrested and charged with murder, was acquitted But found guilty of culpable homicide.
In addition to the Five years jail term, Oscar has also be given a three-three-year suspended jail sentence fofor a separate first-name charge.
