Photos: High School pupil kept in isolation due to his haircut

Jack Littlewood, 13, was told to leave the classroom due to this haircut he wears in the above picture. He was placed in 'Isolation' for two days because it was against the school regulation that states boys should wear their hair no shorter than a number three cut all over.

Jack's hair is a number two clipper cut worn longer on top, which his outraged mother-Amanda said was never a problem at St George’s High School in Walkdenat-Jack's former school before he came to St Ambrose Barlow RC High School, in Wardley, Greater Manchester in September that sees it as inappropriate.

However, Amanda wrote to the school saying: “It is disgusting he is not getting the education he is entitled to whilst in isolation and I will be taking this matter further should you inflict this punishment on him another day. I can understand if he had a skinhead, tramlines or had it coloured but his haircut is just a normal short back and sides.”

But the Headteacher-Marie Garside only said: “Parents are aware of the school rules before pupils start in September.”

Who would you side on this matter, Jack's Mum or the Headteacher?
