Facebook and Instagram shot down worldwide by hackers

The two giant social media (Facebook and Instagram) owned by Mark Zuckerberg were down worldwide for an hour today at around 6am GMT. Hackers from the online group Lizard Squad have claimed responsibility for the attack.

Both sites, which have a total of 1.5billion users appeared with error messages in the United States, Europe and Asia.
According to reports, the Lizard Squad is a group of hackers, which used social media to recruit and spread its message, as well have caused havoc in the online world before, taking credit for attacks that took down the Sony PlayStation Network and Microsoft's Xbox Live network last month.
Despite the alleged cyber attack that took the social media giants offline, Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook, which also owns Instagram, is yet to comment on what the fault was.
