Ex-Super Eagles Keeper, Wilfred Agbonavbare, dies of cancer


The former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Wilfred Agbonavbare has died. Wilfred finally lost his battle against cancer today, Tuesday Jan. 27th at a Spanish hospital were he was receiving treatment.
48-year-old Agbonavbare, is said was initially treated in Florida, United States, before he was transferred to the Prince of Asturias Hospital in Alcalá de Henares. 
It's heart breaking to know that Agbonavbare’s three children are now orphans as his wife died of breast cancer three years ago after gulping all their earnings.
Agbonavbare's death was confirmed by his former Spanish Club Rayo Vallecano who helped to raise 21,106.90 euros (over N4.5m) last weekend to help the former Eagles goalie. According to a statement on the Vallecano official site;
“El Rayo Vallecano informs that our ex- player Wilfred Agbonavbare has died early this morning at the Prince of Asturias Hospital in Alcalá de Henares. The Club shall, as soon as possible, and with permission from the family (confirm) the place where you can give him a last farewell.”
