Nigeria Defence HQ confirms seizure of Russian Cargo Plane carrying military hardware...While Russian Embassy in Nigeria denies ownership


The Defence headquarters have released a statement on their website confirming the seizure of a Russian cargo plane with registration number AN124100RA82038 conveying arms and ammunition from Bangui, Central African Republic, to Ndjamena, the capital city of Chad. The plane with seven crew members, was seized early yesterday morning Dec.6th at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, after it landed at the airport to refuel. 

However, the twitter handle of the Russian embassy in Nigeria has denied ownership of the detained Chadian-bound cargo plane carrying arms and ammunition.

The statement from Defence HQ.... 
"An Antonov Cargo aircraft carrying some military hardware was arrested at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in the early hours of Saturday 6th Dec. 2014 Investigation is ongoing to determine the content and the origin of the aircraft. Further details would be made as soon as the investigation is completed."
