Nigeria: Angry PDP Members brings Coffin to PDP National secretariat in Abuja

Life is very valuable oooo. Never knew our politicians value theirs with so much passion.

Hmmmm--The national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party,  Adamu Mu'azu and other members of the party's national working committee abandoned their respective offices in Abuja yesterday and flee for their dear lives when angry PDP members stormed the Party's National Secretariat with Coffin.

According to reports, the angry PDP members from Rivers state protested against the leadership of the PDP over the choice of former Education Minister Nyesom Wike as the party's Governorship candidate for River state in the 2015 elections. The protesters barricaded the entrance of the secretariat, stopping everyone who worked at the building from gaining entrance. 

However the group was later dispersed by mobile police and five protesters arrested.

MUMBAI: Indian presenter slapped on live TV for wearing revealing dress

 

Bollywood star Gauahar Khan (pictured clasping hand to cheek) was left distressed after a man in the audience at a singing TV competition she was presenting on Sunday November 30th got up and slapped her for wearing a revealing dress at Film City in Goregaon, Mumbai.

24 year old Akil Malik, took offence at Khan’s backless outfit as she presented the grand finale of Raw Star--a singing competition.  He first started by arguing with the model but finally made his way up on stage and slapped the Gauahar as security tried to escort him off the venue. Thief who 'attacked pensioner' is stripped naked and wrapped in cling film by mob of vigilantes

A would-be thief--32-year-old Valentino Abeyta Barrera--who was allegedly spotted trying to rob an Old Age Pensioner (OAP) by holding a knife to his throat was disarmed, stripped naked and tied to a lamppost with cling film by a mob of vigilantes  in the Chilean capital Santiago. 

Valentino was stripped, had his underpants pulled down, and was then wrapped in plastic cellophane. Photographs of the incident were posted online where they quickly went viral, and sparked heated debate over vigilante justice.

Many said that it made those giving the crook a beating as bad as the crook himself, while others said it showed the lack of faith in the police and the justice system.

One Daniela Montoya Pazo said: "They just had to arrest him, not beat him. This kind of things put us at the same level as the criminals." While another, Daichi Yuka, said: "I would like to do the same thing to the thief who threatened me with a weapon this morning."

Tinubu condemns Kano Triple Bomb Blast: says "...the god of Boko Haram is Satan himself"

A national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, has condemned Friday’s terrorist attack on Kano Central mosque; where more than 100 people died and hundreds more injured--describing the perpetrators as “godless people”.

In a statement delivered in Lagos on Sunday, Ex-Governor of Lagos State, Tinubu said that numerous attacks by Boko Haram on innocent people demonstrate how heinous and debased the group and those who sponsor it have become.

“So depraved, they have become heartless and filled with enmity against all that is good and proper. This was not the act of human beings,” said Mr. Tinubu, a former Lagos State governor. These attacks could only have come from the hands of those who do not know God or Serve God. This is the act of godless people. No reason can be found for what was done except that BH (Boko Haram) has once again shown its lust for innocent blood and its disdain for life peacefully lived. Boko Haram killed people praying to God because the god of Boko Haram is Satan himself."

Speaker Tambuwal wants ‘biased’ judge changed as Court grants PDP permission to declare his seat vacant

The Speaker of the House of Representative, Aminu Tambuwal, has yesterday petitioned the National Judicial Council, NJC, after a member of the House, Abiodun Akinlade, filed a suit asking a Federal High Court in Abuja to sack him as speaker and member of the House.

The suit has been assigned to Court 8, presided over by Justice E.S.J Chukwu, a judge, whose antecedents, the speaker said, cannot guarantee fairness.

However, Mr. Tambuwal’s cites divisions in the PDP as reason for his recent defection to APC, a claim the ruling party rejects and wants him sacked; said Justice Chukwu’s ruling portends bias and asked for the suit to be reassigned to a neutral judge.

“I humbly urge my Lord to re-assign the said Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/871/2014 to a neutral judge, who has not made any judicial pronouncement on the issue, or made public his own opinion on the issue at hand,” Mr. Tambuwal said.

A heartmelting words of a dying mother will make you see your life anew

The moving words below are that of Claire Wood (pictured above), from Southend-on-Sea-UK. She has terminal breast cancer diagnosed a year ago. Claire doesn't know how long she has left to live and will never see her 3-year-old daughter Jessica grow but she has frozen her eggs so that husband Barry can have another child.

Since I was diagnosed a year ago with terminal breast cancer, I’ve learned a great many things. How the mundane stuff — the ordinary chores of everyday life — become an intense and special pleasure when you know your life will be short.

The way your heart swells with pride and love as your toddler runs from nursery into your arms at hometime. The fantastic luck in having a husband who is solid, constant, dependable.

But the lesson I cherish most lies in the outpouring of love I’ve received from my friends. For the support they have given me has been selfless and unstinting.

Perhaps it takes a crisis to fully understand what friends mean to you — but it’s no overstatement to say they have sustained me through my darkest hours, that their countless acts of kindness have carried me through the worst of times.

CHINA: 19-year-old teen live-posts his suicide on Weibo

In recent times, social networking has evolved to something extreme and beyond explanation. It has become a platform for millions of purposes even live posts of suicides and murder intentions...ranging from suicide selfies to suicide videos and posts.

On Sunday, Nov. 30th, a 19-year-old in teen with the last name Zeng from Sichuan-China published a set of grim posts to his Weibo (a microblogging site) account just before his death. According to reports, the motive behind his suicide was related to a failed relationship.

Pres. Jonathan condemns terror attack on Kano Central Mosque

President Jonathan has condemned the Kano Central Mosque Bomb attack which happened yesterday (read here) and extended his heartfelt condolences to all affected families as well as the Government of Kano. Crime: Top prison boss gets 7 years in prison for obtaining money by false pretense

Below is the EFCC press statement as released yesterday: 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on  Friday 28, 2014, secured the conviction of a top prison officer as Justice J.J Majebi of the Kogi State High Court, Okene, convicted and sentenced Joseph Friday Idachaba, Deputy Controller of Prisons, to 7 years imprisonment for offences bordering on obtaining money by false pretense.  

The convict is to pay the sum of N1, 403,114.09 in restitution to Nigeria Prison Service.

Arraigned in 2012 on a three-count charge, the convict was found guilty on count three of the charge by the trial judge, who, however, acquitted him on two remaining counts.

Nigeria: 14-year-old child-bride faces death penalty for killing 35-year-old husband she'd just wed and three other people by lacing their food with rat poison

14-year-old Nigerian child bride, Wasila Tasi'u is facing the death penalty for allegedly murdering her 35-year-old husband with rat poison.

Prosecutors alleged that Wasila, from Unguwar Yansoro, the northern Nigeria, laced her husband Umar Sani's food with poison - because she's unhappy with the marriage.

However, she is also accused of the murder of three other people, who were said to have died suddenly after eating the same meal prepared for a post-wedding celebration in the village of Unguwar Yansoro.

But the trial has angered activists who claim a girl who married a man more than 20 years her senior should be treated as a victim. 

Babysitter who battered Ugandan baby Arnella apologizes, explains why she did it

It is quite despicable, but the Babysitter who is currently in prison awaiting trial for attempted murder of baby Arnella explains why she did it, apologizes and begs to be forgiven. She's due in court again on December 8th.

Speaking to Ugandaonline.net from Luzira prison, Jolly Tumuhiirwe said:

“My dad in Kabale was very sick and my mom did not have any money. I asked my bosses for some money to send to my dad but they told me that I hadn’t made a month yet and my father was dying, so it kept on haunting me. That is the more reason I referred the anger to the baby but I’m sorry.

British ISIS fighter blows himself up in suicide mission in Iraq

A British ISIS fighter, Abu Hajar al-Britani has blown himself up in a car on a suicide mission in Iraq using 1800kg of explosives to kill a number of the country's security force soldiers

According to Daily Mail, Abu reportedly carried out the martyrdom mission in the strategic Iraqi town of Baiji today and ISIS claims the Brit also destroyed a significant number of tanks and artillery equipment. 

A photo was released by ISIS' media branch for the province of Salahuddin, showing Abu Hajar al-Britani in full military uniform. 

His face is covered with a black balaclava and his gloved left hand is raised, with his index finger extended to the sky to signify his belief in Allah being the one true God.

Nigeria: 100 dead and many injured as Twin blasts rock Kano Central Mosque

More than 100 people have been killed and scores injured in three explosions during Friday prayers at one of the biggest mosques in the Nigerian city of Kano, today.

The Central Mosque is close to the Emir of Kano's palace and is where the influential Muslim leader usually leads prayers. Also the largest worship centres in the city.

However, the Emir, Muhammad Sanusi, is currently in Saudi Arabia.

According to reports, the exact number of deaths are still unclear as police have not issued a figure yet.

A spokesperson for the Kano Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Mustapha Abubakar, said police were “still taking stock of the actual persons that have died” and could not give clear figures as of yet.

But witnesses say the attack was so massive the number of deaths is in hundreds.

Proud skin bleacher says "I feel Prettier when my skin is lighter"

 

Notwithstanding the dangers and health complications associated with skin bleaching, former Cameroonian model Irene Major, now the wife of Canadian oil tycoon, Sam Malin has revealed that she's a proud skin bleacher and she just feels prettier. 

Irene made this known to UK Daily Mail and shared the above photos of her--before and after. She said her reasons behind her bleaching:

"When my skin is lighter, I just feel prettier. It’s a taboo subject, and people get judgmental about it, but that’s how I feel."   

"A skin-lightening regime has been part of my life practically since birth. There are many different types of African skin — from dark charcoal to a lighter version — and you grow up knowing that the lighter ladies are the prettier ones. It’s just a fact.’ she added.

22-year-old Andele Lara (pictured above left) from Boston-US is Rihanna's look alike that she has a huge online following of 41,000 followers on Instagram and is even inundated with adoring letters from fans. Not only that, Andele makes £13k a year just by resembling the pop star from clothing contract and she's considering making it a full-time career.

"My friends had a magazine with Rihanna on the cover. He held it up to my face and was like 'You look like her! I wasn't really sure. She was glammed up in the magazine and here I was in my school uniform. Personally, I never realised I looked like Rihanna. I do see some resemblance but not as much as everyone else I think," Andele told Mail Online.

When Money Talks: American wife to get £337million in Britain's biggest divorce settlement

 

A London High Court Judge has ruled that the American wife (pictured abov of a British Tycoon-Christopher Hohn-be given £337m in a divorce payout. This is said to be the biggest divorce settlement so far in British history, which is equivalent to N96 billion.

The judge awarded Jamie Cooper-Hohn $493 million in cash and the rest in the form of a property in Connecticut and adjustments to her share of a pension during a court hearing yesterday,  Nov 27.

A full judgment will be published in December.

However, Ms. Cooper-Hohn was initially seeking half of her ex-husband's (pictured left) assets, which he refused and said she was entitled to just a quarter on the grounds that his talents as an investor constituted a special contribution to their wealth, referring to himself as an "unbelievable moneymaker.”

In awarding Ms. Cooper-Hohn less than half of the couple’s $1.3 billion fortune, the case could set a legal precedent in the U.K, which has developed a wide reputation as a capital for divorce disputes between ultra-rich couples.

While Forensic laboratory for police stays abandoned. Paternity doubt swells weekly requests for DNA analysis and Local researchers lose grants, decry lack of standard facility.

Nigerians (definitely the very rich ones)  keep embracing forensic means to unravel medical mysteries. From paternity/maternity of their children to DNA testing to diagnose cancer.

The Lagos laboratory charges N70, 000 for a complete paternity DNA test (samples from a father and a child). A United Kingdom-based laboratory, with a branch office in Lagos charges $300 (N51, 000) for a simple paternity test per head. Senate responds to corruption allegations by Fmr Pres. Obasanjo, says “The allegation is spurious...very distant from the truth and is nowhere near reality,”

The senate has replied to the extensive corruption allegations leveled against it by the former Pres. Olusegun Obasanjo  at a book launch in Abuja yesterday. In a statement released and signed by its spokesman, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the senate frowned at the furious outburst by Chief Obasanjo that they used their oversight function to extort money, (read here) stating that the oversight functions of the senate was the initiative of the former president. The statement reads:

“The allegation as spurious as it were. Its very distant from the truth and is nowhere near reality,” 

“Ex President Obasanjo for the avoidance of doubt, was the initiator of the constituency project in the year 2000 as a means of ensuring that projects were fairly spread across the country using the Senatorial zones as the spring board."
