Singer Niyola reveals she was molested growing up...what she said

In an interview on SoundcityCityDivas show with Pearl, EME 's first lady, Niyola, revealed she was molested, like many women, while growing up.

"I have been molested quite a number of times. Thankfully, I haven't been raped. I have been molested by both people I never imagined would molest me...and obviously strangers as well. And it wasn't once, it wasn't twice. It wasn't three times. But what helped me was that I started to try to figure out at that time why anybody would want to do that to me or to any female. I realised it was cowardice. Alot of things could be done to prevent the situations and protect yourself. I remember for a very long time, I would never visit guys. And when I started to live alone when I was in school, you would never come to my room for any reason. For a very long time I was paranoid. But I realised that if you share your experience with people, your fellow women, you'll find that it's not that big a deal that you can't come out & talk about it because it's not your fault that someone tried to molest you. Such people should actually be punished and brought to book."

Iranian football players warned not to take selfies with female fans in Australia

Iranian football players have been warned not to take selfies with female fans or be punished if they default because it is against their 'moral principles'. 

Taking selfies with men are allowed. However, Iran made the threats to players after photos of some of them posing with some female fans, who are mostly Iranian-born who live in Australia, went viral on social media, especially the one that showed a female fan wearing a midriff top, while holding an Iranian flag with the words "Will Alireza marry me?" Boko Haram Shekau Reveals Reason Behind Baga Massacre In New Video

Leader (Abubakar Shekau) of the deadly Islamic sect Boko Haram, released a new video yesterday titled 'MESSAGE TO THE WORLD FROM IMAM SHEKAU (BAGA)''--where he talked about the massacre they carried out in Baga, Borno state recently. Shekau claimed responsibility for the attack, in the 35 mins video posted on Youtube. He stated that his lord instructed him to do so in his book.

Pregnant daughter of Nassarawa Gov's campaign manager killed

Heavily pregnant daughter (Amina Suleiman) of Nassarawa state governor's campaign manager, Musa Illu, has been reported dead. Seven months pregnant Amina was killed by unknown assailants at her husband's home in Katsina state on Monday Jan. 19th.

According to reports, Amina was found in the pool of her blood with her throat slit and a knife in her stomach. Reports also said her husband was away to Zaria for his doctorate degree programme. While younger brother to the campaign manager, Namairo Babai, on confirming the incident said Amina's husband had tried to reach her on phone on the day of the attack but when he couldn't, he sent somebody to check on his wife only to be told she'd been killed.

Meet 86-year-old Lee Wachtstetter(pictured right) who sold her luxury home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to permanently reside at sea, after her dying husband told her to "never stop cruising". 

Lee (aka Mama Lee) spends £108,000 a year to live on a cruise ship, a 1,070-passenger Crystal Serenity. And have lived in the ship for seven years.

According to reports, Her husband Mason, a banker, introduced her to cruising and the pair enjoyed 89 during their 50-year marriage. Since his death from cancer in 1997 she has done nearly a hundred more and 15 around the world trips.

Accountant Rose Ann Bolsany (pictured above left) said she is so in love with her Maltese terrier called Bella Mia (pictured left) that she has left her everything and cut her sons out of her will.

The three year old pampered pooch will inherit a fortune consisting of jewellery, a trust fund and even a holiday home.

Again! 12 more Nigerians on death row in Indonesia

Only two days after two Nigerian were executed by firing squad in Indonesia after being convicted of drug trafficking, it's been revealed that 12 more are currently on death row for same crime in Indonesia by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign affairs, Amb. Danjuma Sheni, yesterday, Jan 19th.

Amb. Danjuma Sheni, said the Federal government has appealed to the government of Indonesia to show clemency to the 12 Nigerians who are on death roll and not be executed like Nigerians Daniel Emenuo and Okafor Solomon, the two who were executed last Sunday January 18th in the country for drug trafficking.

Pope Francis is wrong to say people who mock Islam should 'expect a punch'-UK PM says

 

UK Prime Minster David Cameron has said he doesn't approve of the comment Pope Francis made following the Charlie Hebdo massacre while peaking about freedom of expression and its limit, Pope said 'you cannot insult the faith of others and if you do, you can expect a punch'. Read here

In opposition to what the Pope said, Cameron stated that freedom of speech is important in an open society;

'I think in a free society, there is a right to cause offence about someone's religion. I'm a Christian; if someone says something offensive about Jesus, I might find that offensive, but in a free society I don't have a right to wreak vengeance on them. We have to accept that newspapers, magazines, can publish things that are offensive to some, as long as it's within the law. That is what we should defend.'

FG summons Indonesian ambassador over the execution of two Nigerians yesterday

The Federal government has summoned the Indonesian ambassador to Nigeria through the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Aminu Wali, ove the execution of two Nigerians by firing squad in Indonesian instead of one earlier made known to them by the Indonesian government. 

In a statement signed by the Foreign Affairs ministry’s Director of Public Communication, Ogbole Amedu-Ode yesterday January 18th, FG alleged that 2 Nigerians were killed at Sunday's execution. However, it is said that the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, approved the execution of only one Nigerian identified as Daniel Emenuo aka Diarrassoube Mamadou in the list of six condemned drugs convicts in December 2014.

KENYA: School children tear-gased for protesting against a developer who 'grabbed' their playground

 

Langata primary school pupils in Kenya were tear-gassed today, Jan. 19th by Kenya Police because they protested against a certain land developer who they say 'stole' part of their school's Playground to convert it into private property.

According to reports, the school authority had written to the government asking for help to stop their land from being taken over by the developer but their letters were not attended to. Seeing that their teachers were helpless, the school children decided to hold a protest in front of their school this morning. However, instead of a peaceful response from the police, they rather tear gassed the helpless children, causing a stampede as each flee to safety, leaving five children hospitalized.

The soft-spoken actress unassumingly granted the interview; however, to her surprise, during the interview she noticed that the Time Magazine journalist was not making use of a tape recorder for the interview, which is the norm in most climes, but resorted to taking short notes at intervals. The actress however gave them the benefit of the doubt.

Buhari: Cancer medical report about me is fake

The APC presidential candidate Gen Muhammadu Buhari has said that the cancer medical report that surfaced online yesterday January 18th is fake. He also said it has been refuted by the authorities of the Ahmadu Bello Teaching hospital who purportedly issued the medical report. Buhari made this known while addressing journalists on the said cancer report.

"The Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital said the documents are forged. This desperation is beyond my comprehension. The issue we are letting Nigerians know is that there has been much corruption in this country in the last 16 years. The Peoples Democratic Party has literally destroyed this country. There were reports that I was to jet out for medical check-up yesterday (Saturday) but here I am. I was in Nasarawa and Benue states yesterday (Saturday) and tomorrow January 19th, I will be in two states. The day after tomorrow, Tuesday January 20th, I will be in two more states. I sincerely don’t know how they got the impression that I was sick. I had a cold but it did not stop me from going through my schedule' he said

Nigeria lowers oil price amist election: Petroleum Minister annonuces

The Federal Government of Nigeria has reduced the oil pump price from the current Ninety Seven Naira (N97) per litre pump price down to Eighty Seven Naira (N87) per litre pump price, which is said would be effective from twelve (12) midnight Sunday, 18th of January 2015. Well, we Nigerians will confirm that from today, Monday, Jan 19th. See the statement by the petroleum minister Diezani Alison-Madueke below...

As you may be aware, there has been a lot of volatility in the oil market in the past few months and due to this the importation prices of our petroleum products have been impacted.

Therefore, with the approval and directive of Mr. President and by virtue of Section 6 clause 1 of the Nigerian Petroleum Act, it is my responsibility as Minister of Petroleum Resources to hereby announce a reduction in the pump price of Petroleum Motor Spirit (Petrol) from the current Ninety Seven Naira (=N=97) per litre pump price down to Eighty Seven Naira (=N87=) per litre pump price, effective from twelve (12) midnight Sunday, 18th of January 2015.

Muna Obiekwe is dead: Nollywood looses another talented actor

 

 

Nigeria Nollywood has lost another talented, vibrant and young Actor. Muna Obiekwe is dead. The news of his death came as a shock yesterday afternoon around 4:15pm. According to reports, Muna collapsed in his home and was rushed to hospital. He was later confirmed dead in a hospital in Lagos after a battle with kidney failure. 

A kidney disease which he kept secret even to his friends and colleagues. The picture above right shows Muna on a dialysis machine with his sister behind him. However, a twitter handle @MunaObiekwe has denyed his death. But the post from his colleagues actor Mike Ezuruonye, and actress Empress Njamah confirm Muna Obiekwe is actually gone. RIP.
