Amber Rose Files for Divorce From Wiz Khalifa

The Hollywood Celebrity Split continues. It's  Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose time.

According to TMZ reports, Rose, 30, filed for divorce this week after just 14 months of marriage. Reportedly citing irreconcilable differences, the model is looking to gain full custody of the couple's son Sebastian, whom they welcomed in February 2013.

The site alleges that the breakup is a bitter one, and infidelity may be involved. Rapper Khalifa, 27, proposed to his love in March 2012, after more than a year of dating.

Mummification is not a burial practice only for the ancient Egyptians. The Anga tribe of Papua New Guinea’s Morobe Highlands have practiced a unique mummification technique – smoke curing, were the dead are smoked, and placed on steep cliffs, so that they overlook the village below. 

As the highest form of respect for the dead, the process is carried out carefully and thoroughly by experienced embalmers. At first, the knees, elbows and feet of the corpse are slit, and the body fat is drained completely. Then, hollowed-out bamboo poles are jabbed into the dead person’s guts, and the drippings are collected. These drippings are smeared into the hair and skin of living relatives. Through this ritual, the strength of the deceased is believed to be transferred to the living. The leftover liquid is saved for later use as cooking oil.

In the next stage, the corpse’s eyes, mouth and anus are sewn shut, in order to reduce air intake and prevent the rotting of the flesh. This is believed to be the key step that ensures the mummies are perfectly preserved for centuries ahead. The soles of the feet, the tongue, and the palms are also sliced off and presented to the surviving spouse. The remains of the corpse are then tossed into a communal fire pit and smoke cured.

Once thoroughly smoked, the mummy is coated in clay and red ocher, which act as a natural cocoon, protecting the body from decay and scavengers. Mummies dating back at least 200 years can still be found in the Morobe Highlands today. During celebrations and events, the mummies might be brought down from the cliffs, only to be returned soon after.

A rare honor is bestowed upon dead Anga warriors – they remain guardians of the village, even after death. The warrior mummies are placed on special ‘stations’ on the cliffs; they become ‘watchers’ who continue to protect the village in the afterlife.

The Anga mummification process can be a scary thing for people who don’t understand what the ritual is about. In fact, the curing was banned in 1975, when Papua New Guinea gained its independence. Today, many tribes perform Christian burials, and only a few tribes in remote pockets still prefer to mummify their dead.

STARS FROM THE CRYSTALS: Russian student covers her luxury Mercedes in one MILLION Swarovski crystals

Daria Radionova, 21, spent £20,000 to bling up her £25,000, 2011 Mercedes CLS 350 with one million Swarovski crystals.

The 21-year-old business student marked the completion of the two month project by parking it outside the Levin Hotel near Harrods in Knightsbridge, London for the world to see.

She explained,
"I wanted to have something unique and do something special.
"The people who did it came over from Russia and worked for 12 hours a day for two months on the car.
"I am really happy with it and I am looking forward to driving it around.
"It has only just been finished and everywhere I go people stop to have a look at it.
"It gets lots of attention from people walking by and in cars.
"Sometimes I think they might crash.
"Everyone is taking pictures of it.
"When I sell the car I will give the money to charity."

iPhone Dress: Fusion of Fashion and Technology

   

Elie Tahari an Israeli-born fashion designer has created an ‘iPhone Dress’ as a way of paying tribute to Apple’s latest product offering. The dress is a very basic black silhouette,  made of a special mesh ‘techno-fabric’ that allows over 50 iPhones to be sewn into it.

Tahari said  “I’m inspired by the iPhone, “I’ve always been. The only device I really have is an iPhone.”

The unique dress was unveiled during his Spring 2015 presentation earlier this month at the Elie Tahari Vault on 5th Avenue in Manhattan.

I hope to see a fashion icon make a name for himself/herself in this wearable technology whether it  is a bit of an overkill or not. Just make sure the dress is covered with the latest iPhone unlike Tahari's that carries the obsolete iPhone 5s. In fashion terms, that is so last season! Right?

Health: Teen diagnosed with rare 'Stone Man Syndrome' in Shanghai

A 14-year-old Ni Mi from Sichuan province had been diagnosed of fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP), also called Stone Man Syndrome, at Shanghai hospital on Monday.  An extremely rare disease that causes fibrous tissue to turn into bone.

Doctors at Tongji Hospital said it is a condition so rare there are only 600 known cases in the world. 

The disorder, caused by a mutation of the body's repair mechanism, results in patients' muscles, tendons and ligaments becoming ossified. Injuries can cause the joints to become completely frozen, and surgery to remove the extra bone growth is impossible, as it results in the body attempting to "repair" the damaged area with more bone.

Tongji's Dr Zhang Keqin said patients with FOP usually die in their 40s, when the pressure on their lungs becomes too much and they can no longer breathe. He said that Ni's condition is not yet too serious and treatment should be able to delay the deterioration.

“The results should be seen in six months, when she’ll come back for a checkup," he told Shanghai Daily.

A new medicine for treating FOP is currently under trial in the US, and is expected to hit the market next year.

Taking Massage To A Different Level

Of all the ways to get a massage, 51 year-old Li Chia chooses to roll himself down 30 concrete steps every morning at Xi'an Changle Park to receive a thorough massage that addresses all the pressure points in his body.  He rocks himself back up to the top from the bottom of the stairs.

In his words as reported (odditycentral),

“I got the idea from rolling on pebbles at a health club, and when I couldn’t find any pebbles at my local park, I decided to try the stairs and was surprised to find it really works,” Chia explained. “I have always been a great fan of Chinese massage and the possibility that pressure points can do all sorts of things including relieving stress. After all, that’s why massage is so popular,” he said. “However, I don’t believe that any masseuse will be able to give me the sort of massage I get from the impact of the stairs. I find it’s a great way to relieve pressure and has all sorts of other health benefits as well.”

Li Chia has been practicing the odd massage technique for over three years, and he hasn’t had a single injury, not even a bruise. Li also happens to be a marathon runner and amateur motorcycle rider.

Kudos Li Chia!

The fun part of all is that Chia does not recommend that anyone else try it, because it does have a serious potential for injury. (seriously?)
