To mark the first anniversary of the missing Chibok girl, Amnesty International said at least 2,000 women and girls have been abducted by Boko Haram since the start of 2014 and many have been forced into sexual slavery and trained to fight.
According to the new report published yesterday which marked 365 days since the kidnap of the chibok girls, "Boko Haram killed thousands of people, abducted at least 2000 women and girls and forced more than a million to flee their homes. Through a campaign of almost daily killings, bombings, abductions, looting and burning, Boko Haram crippled normal life in north-east Nigeria. Schools, churches, mosques and other public buildings were destroyed. Boko Haram brutally mistreated civilians trapped in areas under its control. Amnesty International's research shows that Boko Haram committed war crimes and crimes against humanity.
However, shocking new satellite images have emerged showing the devastation wreaked by the deadly islamic group Boko Haram fighters on Bama, the second largest city in Borno state in northern Nigeria, over a period of six months; which was left decimated after thousands fled or were gunned down in the street by Boko Haram fighters as they overran the troops stationed there in September 2014.
The images have been released as part of a new report by Amnesty International. (view more satellite images after the cut...)
