Charlie Hebdo cartoonist and a mother, Corrine Rey (pic above) has confessed she was the person who let two armed terrorists into the French satirical magazine's office yesterday, Jan 7th. She said she'd just returned from picking her daughter from school when she was confronted by the gunmen who threatened to kill her daughter if she doesn't give them the entry code for the building.

High-Flying Ghanaian ‘Cocaine Lady’ Sentenced To 8 Years By London Court
Nayele Ametefe (aka Ruby Adu Gyamfi) has been sentenced to of eight years and eight months in prison by a British court according to GhanaWeb.
The sentencing of this Ghanaian woman whose 12.5kg cocaine saga rocked the nation a few months ago happened yesterday, Jan. 6th. However, Ms. Ametefe had earlier pleaded guilty to the charge of attempting to carry 12.5 kilos of cocaine to the United Kingdom which is said to have a street value of over $2million.Court transcripts show that the judge had remarked that the substance Ms. Ametefe was caught carrying was among the purest form of cocaine ever seized at the Heathrow Airport with a purity level of 79%.
Before her arrest, it was alleged that Ms. Ametefe was en route to the Dominican Republic. The 32-year-old is also believed to have used the VVIP Lounge of Ghana’s only
international airport – Kotoka – in the capital Accra to smuggle the
prohibited substance outside the shores of the West African country via a
British Airways flight.

Obasanjo Accuses President Jonathan Of Squandering Oil Savings
Chief Obasanjo made the allegation while hosting the South-West women leaders at his residence in Abeokuta yesterday, Monday Jan 5th.
He said his administration left over $25 billion to his successor, Musa Yar’adua, who raised the sum to $35 billion, and $40billion in Nigeria’s foreign reserve account after paying the outstanding debt at the time.

INEC bans use of govt cash, resources for campaigns

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has banned candidates seeking for any position from using Government money and other resources for campaigns.
This is part of the Code of Conduct which the parties have signed.
“All political parties shall separate party business from government business. No political party shall use state vehicles or other public resources for any electioneering campaigns or any other party business,” INEC said in its code.

APC has commiserated with President Goodluck Jonathan over the death of his younger sister, Mrs Nancy Jonathan-Olei who died at a private hospital in Bayelsa State yesterday January 4th.
In the statement signed by its National Secretary Lai Mohammed, the party prayed that God comforts President Jonathan and his family.
"We pray that God will grant repose to the soul of the departed, comfort the President and his entire family and give them the strength to bear their loss. We also wish the immediate family of the deceased God’s succour in their moment of darkness,” it said.

Indian Police arrest four Nigerians over internet fraud
The accused persons, Peter Austin (29), Eboh Felix (26), Steffi Ebohon (24) and Uzaonicha Daniel Iwenwanne (26), who after posing as another victim and tracing their phone call data record and email conversations. allegedly contacted a student named Mohd Wasiuddin, and told him he's won some money. The police said the gang managed to convince the unsuspecting victim to deposit money for registration, customs clearance, processing fees and other expenses.
"Believing the gang members, Wasiuddin deposited about Rs. 35 lakh in different bank accounts operated from Gujarat, Rajasthan and Mumbai, only to realize later that it was fraud" the police in charge said
