Indonesia's Aviation Ministry has suspended the search for missing AirAsia jet that disappeared early hours of yesterday morning, Dec. 28th while flying from the city of Surabaya in Indonesia to Singapore. According to Indonesian transport ministry official Hadi Mustofa, the search was suspended due to night fall but will continue today, Dec. 29th as early as 7am.
The AirAsia flight which was carrying 162 people had 138 adults, 16 children and one infant, 2 pilots, 4 flight attendants and one engineer lost contact with air traffic control about two hours after take-off, while flying over the Java Sea.
Indonesia's
acting director general of transportation, said the last contact
between pilot and the air traffic control was at 6.13 a.m. on Saturday)
“when the pilot requested permission to deviate from its submitted
flight plan route due to weather condition."
